Time to seed flowers!

Image
What you should do and what you should't do when it comes to seeding Ready for winter to be over and I yearn to get my hands dirty and to dig in the soil again.  While most of the field work is still several weeks away, there is plenty to do in preparation for the season ahead. First and foremost on the late winter to-do list: sow seeds. Starting your own seeds is a great way to get a jump on the season. It also gives you access to hundreds of specialty flowers that you won’t find at your local nursery or big box store. Plus, it is the most affordable way to fill a cutting garden fast. I start roughly 90 percent of my seeds inside the greenhouse. If you don’t have a greenhouse, don’t worry. A simple wire racking system rigged with lights will work just fine. The first few years I grew flowers, I didn’t have a greenhouse and I started all of my seeds in the basement, on shelves, under lights. It was easy, inexpensive and a great way to grow lots of plants in a...

Why you should LOVE learning another language!

Learning a new language can be an exhilarating experience. While you certainly have many reasons for wanting to learn English, it is likely that as you expand upon your knowledge of the language, you’ll develop your own personal love for it. Trust me, I’ve learned another language – it isn’t easy! But it CAN be! I started learning French when I was 11 years old, and in 2017 received my Masters in it. For years I felt like I was stuck not improving and not becoming fluent, learning vocabulary that wasn’t relevant for speaking French in the real world. It wasn’t until I lived there for 12 months that I felt as though I was on my way to being fluent. Interacting with French people not only improved my French language ability, but it also helped me fall in love with the language. The key? INTERACTING, SPEAKING and IMMERSING myself in French. Had I had the opportunity to learn French WITH a native online before this, I’m sure my transition into French life, language and cul...
