Hair Removal Methods

Hair Removal

Fashion for smooth skin came to Europe from the East: there even in ancient times hair removal was considered a sign of aesthetics and good taste. Why did European women unreservedly accept this baton? First of all, they took the hygienic aspect and the advantage of smooth skin in intimate places. And only later they began to remove undesirable vegetation in the open areas of the body. What methods of depilation supplement the arsenal of cosmetologists today and what method to choose for yourself?
All existing methods of epilation today are based on one principle - the destruction of the bulb and the overgrowth of the hair tubule. And epilation has a significant difference in this from depilation, in which the hair is removed, but the bulb itself is not destroyed. Although many consider these processes to be approximately the same, but they are not.
The technology chosen to combat unwanted vegetation, first of all, depends on your goals: to remove hair only for a while or to get rid of them forever. In the first case, you will find methods such as:
Shaving is an old and tried-and-true method, after which, on the second day, bristles break through.
Plucking with a depilatory or a thread is an unpleasant and painful manipulation.
Chemical methods (cream depilatory) - causes many allergic reactions.
Bio-epilation (waxing, sugaring, enzyme) is a good method, but after incorrectly manipulated hairs often grow under the skin.
The complete removal of hair cannot do without methods of hardware cosmetology, in which the destruction of the hair follicle occurs under the influence of various types of energy. These include:
Laser hair removal, in which the hair growth zone is exposed to laser radiation.
Photoepilation - the growth zone is irradiated with thermal energy converted from light energy.
Electrolysis - hair follicles are destroyed by electric energy, converted into thermal energy.
ELOS-epilation - combines all types of energy: light, laser, electric.
Qool-epilation - differs from conventional laser hair removal by selective laser action only on the hairs themselves, leaving the skin intact.
AFT-epilation, in which there happens the selective effect of pulsed infrared radiation on hair bulbs.
In order to choose for yourself the optimal type of hair removal or depilation, you need to consider in more detail their pros and cons. It is clear that all types of hair removal have a huge plus in that just a few procedures you can get rid of signs of excess vegetation for a long time or even forever. Methods of depilation cannot boast such a property, but they do not do any harm to health. No wonder all the methods were dubbed by one generalized term "bio-epilation ". So, below are the pros and cons of each technique.
Shaving:
  • The simplest of all procedures;
  • Short-term smooth skin effect, often irritation and ingrown hairs.
Plucking with a depilatory or thread:
  • inexpensive procedure, partially destroying the structure of the hair bulb;
  • soreness, frequent irritation of the skin and danger of infection of the wound.
Chemical method:
  • You can do it yourself at home, painlessness and speed of handling the problem area;
  • The effect persists for only a few days.
Waxing:
  • the speed of the procedure and the reduction of excess hair as sessions are repeated;
  • soreness, short effect.
Sugaring:
  • low cost and speed;
  • short-term effect.
Enzyme epilation:
  • hair is removed for a long time;
  • a course of several sessions, the use of chemical structures (chymotrypsin, trypsin), which can cause allergies, and the presence of contraindications.
Laser Hair Removal:
  • non-invasiveness and low morbidity during exposure, as well as the possibility to get rid of vegetation for a long time (from 2 to 5 years);
  • the course of procedures "hits" on a pocket, and intervals between them consist of 2-3 months. The method has a number of absolute contraindications and is ineffective on light and gray hair.
Photoepilation:
  • high efficiency immediately after the first session, safety and minor discomfort during the exercise, disposal of vegetation for several years;
  • high cost, the need to conduct a course of several procedures, a number of contraindications, as well as a ban on the use of alcohol-containing cosmetics after manipulation.
Electrolysis:
  • more affordable cost in comparison with photo and laser hair removal, as well as the ability to remove hair permanently, regardless of skin type and hair structure;
  • duration and pain in the venue (local anesthesia may be necessary).
ELOS-epilation:
  • painless, no possibility of damage to the skin, removal of all types of hair forever;
  • high cost of sessions, for a full-fledged effect it is necessary to take a course.
Qool-epilation:
  • painless and safe method, hair leaves the skin forever;
  • high cost, a wide range of contraindications.
AFT-epilating:
  • painlessness, safety, efficiency on all types of hair and removal of vegetation forever;
  • high price.
What kind of hair removal should you choose?
How do you know which type of epilating is best, and which one will be optimal for you? To do this, you have to follow several rules:
  1. In any case, first get a specialist consultation that will assess your health, hair and skin type. Some types of hair removal may not be effective for your hair type.
  2. Identify the contraindications that are often encountered in describing procedures, find out if they have you. Often, their presence in the patient reduces the possibility of choosing a particular method.
  3. It should be noted that some types of hair removal cannot be done if there are metal prostheses or electronic devices in the patient's body. In addition, you need to consider whether you are allergic to certain drugs and cosmetic substances.
If you go by selecting "from the reverse," that is, first to exclude all methods that cannot be carried out (for one or another contraindication), then among the remaining ones to choose the best way to remove hair will not be difficult. In this case, you will also need help from a cosmetologist.
Which method is most effective?
What kind of hair removal is the most effective, can determine the doctor-cosmetologist. The result of any method depends on the selection of the necessary parameters for the procedure and the experience of the specialist. It is important not to violate the regime and the intervals between the procedures, especially the hardware.
Let remind you that the purpose of each kind of an epilation is destruction of a hair bulb, and it is possible not always for one session. Not all hair that a person has can be removed permanently: 30% of all hair follicles are in a standby state and can give growth even after a full course, so be patient and get the perfect skin! All the time spent and efforts (and even money) can be repaid a hundredfold after perseverance and patience.
